Unique and extravagant, two perfect words to describe the Rolls-Royce Sweptail which will be the dream car for a wealthy enthusiast…
Unveiled at the elegance contest at the Villa d’Este last May, the Rolls-Royce Sweptail is a unique piece designed for a very wealthy client. Its price has not been announced but it would have cost a modest sum of 11.4 million euros. An amount that makes it the most expensive new car in history, far ahead of the Bugatti Chiron (2.40 million) or the Pagani Huayra Roadster (2.74 million).
Champagne compartment or panoramic roof
“The Sweptail is the automobile equivalent of haute couture”. It is with these words that Giles Taylor, design director at Rolls-Royce, has designated this new creation. Built with the help of an anonymous buyer, respecting the DNA of the manufacturer, this custom-made car required four years of work. The inspiration comes from the models of the brand released in the 1920s and 1930s, and from the world of yachting. Evidenced by the deck of varnished wood dressing the rear of the vehicle.
The luxury pushed to the limit
Inside this yacht on wheels, there is a hat box and a compartment that can accommodate a bottle of champagne and two crystal flutes. But the height of luxury is that it contains two attached boxes in a collection designed exclusively by Rolls-Royce for Sweptail. They are made of carbon fiber and dressed in leather.
For the lucky ones who will have the chance to see it, its luxury interior is visible to all thanks to a gigantic panoramic roof that extends over the entire length of the car. A real technical feat as much as an aesthetic bias. One thing is certain, this anonymous customer will not be able to stay very long if he appears at the wheel of the Sweptail.
